Mr. Goli Soda

Our story

Born on Tamil streets. Loved for generations.

More than a soda. A familiar bottle, a roadside shop, and a sound you never forget.

IThe iconic pop

A marble. A bottle. An unmistakable pop.

The design goes back to 1872, when English engineer Hiram Codd patented a bottle sealed by a glass marble and the pressure of the drink itself.

It travelled to India, and vendors here gave it a simpler name — goli, for the marble inside.

A century and a half later, the bottle is still here. So is the sound.

IITamil Nadu memories

Remember the shop. Remember the sound.

Before branded colas reached every shop in India, the streets already had their own drink. For over a hundred years, goli soda sold outside schools, near bus stands and at street corners across Tamil Nadu — opened with a thump, finished in seconds.

Ask anyone who grew up in Tamil Nadu — they remember the shop, the ice box, the thump of the marble. Goli soda was never advertised to anyone. It was simply passed down, one generation to the next, at the same roadside shops.

IIIThe revival & the founders

Two people, ₹18 lakh, and one vehicle.

The bottle’s history began long before us. The modern Mr. Goli Soda story began in Chennai in December 2018, when Chandru and Abdul Aziz set out to bring a familiar drink to a new generation.

Mr. Goli Soda is a heritage-inspired drink for people who love authentic flavour, old traditions and the moments worth sharing. We don’t just bottle soda — we bottle memories, culture and celebration.

“A drink this loved shouldn’t be allowed to fade away.”

We started this in Chennai in 2018 with one simple thought. We didn’t invent goli soda. Our job was to give it what it never had: a proper factory, one quality standard, and a system that can take it across India.

“One vehicle, one shop at a time.”

In December 2018 it was just the two of us and eighteen lakh rupees. Chandru took sales, I took distribution. Everything we know about this business, we learned on those streets.

A drink people love is only half the business. The other half is making sure it’s there in the shop, chilled, every single day.

IVMade here

We craft every bottle.

In-house machinery handles washing, filling and sealing — no manual shortcuts.

What was once a slow, hand-run process now runs as one production line, built for hygiene and consistency.

Every glass bottle goes through four-stage washing before it is filled.
